Red Light: Let’s just cross it together

August 13, 2010

赤信号、みんなでわたれば、こわくない 。”akashingou, min-na de watareba, kowakunai”

I heard this phrase when I was growing up.  It loosely translates to “red light is not so scary if we all walk across together”.

You know those insanely long red lights that stay red even though there are no cars on the road, and you’re waiting there thinking, “come on, turn green already!!!”   There’s one in every city.

feels like eternity

We all wait and wait,

and soon, we have a crowd of people overflowing the sidewalk and onto the street.

Next time, let’s just cross.

Splat?
